Introducing Addicted to Race Premium

by Carmen Van Kerckhove
I’m excited to announce the launch of Addicted to Race Premium, the premium version of our podcast about America’s obsession with race!
Every other week, premium subscribers will receive an hour-long, exclusive audio interview with one of the nation’s top experts on race, racism and diversity.
I decided to start this premium service because so many of you have asked me for a way to enhance your knowledge on these topics, without having to take a long, expensive anti-oppression or diversity training course.
Addicted to Race Premium provides you with a convenient and affordable way to access in-depth — and most importantly — ongoing learning about race, racism and diversity. After all, anti-racism is a journey, not a destination.
Our exclusive expert interviews will help you:
- Learn how to think critically and analyze issues around race and racism.
- Acquire terminology and language that can help you better articulate your experiences and opinions.
Are there any experts you’d love for us to interview, or topics you think we should cover? If so, email me at carmen@newdemographic.com and I’ll do my best to make it happen!
You can get all the details about Addicted to Race Premium here, and I hope you’ll enjoy the preview I’m about to post of our premiere episode. It should give you a flavor for what the interviews will be like. ![]()

Carmen, I was so excited to learn about your this new endeavor, I was ready to subscribe, but 30 bucks a month! Too rich for my blood. It seems it is priced for those who job it is to work on these issues, but not for ARP or other whose avocation it is.
Bummer!

Stephanie W - I’m so glad you’re excited about Addicted to Race Premium!
I’m excited too, and am really enjoying having long, in-depth conversations with these experts — something I unfortunately don’t have room for on the regular episodes of the podcast.
As for the subscription fee of a dollar a day - I guess it all depends on your perspective. We all have monthly subscriptions for things that we sometimes forget about, but they add up, and we get different value out of each one.
To me, $14/month for HBO seems exorbitant because I don’t like their current show line-up. But my $17/month Netflix membership is money well-spent, especially now that they offer digital downloads.
Similarly, $29/month may seem pricey to you, but someone else might think of it as delivering incredible bang for their buck because there’s no other place they can access this caliber of expertise on a topic that is so crucial to their lives.
Anyway, ATR Premium is a new thing I’m trying out to supplement to the enormous amounts of free content we publish everyday on this blog, Racialicious and Race in the Workplace. And of course I’ll continue to produce the biweekly free episodes of Addicted to Race because I love doing it so much!
